Sibdas Sengupta

Sibdas Sengupta (b. 1994, Cuttack, Odisha) is a Conceptual Artist and Curator currently based in Gurugram, Haryana. As a practitioner, Sibdas engages in both artistic and curatorial projects focused on interdisciplinary and research-based contemporary art practices. He has held various managerial and curatorial positions at several institutions.

 

 

His work experience includes tenure at Utsha Foundation for Contemporary Art, Bhubaneswar; Bhubaneswar Art Trail (2018); Kala Chaupal Trust, Gurgaon; Art Centrix Space, New Delhi; and Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency, Delhi. Sibdas’s curatorial projects include ‘Polyphonies in Distance’ (2023), ’I, Non-I and The Other’ (2023), and Expanded Disciplinarity, Chapter I: Constructing Painterly Relations (2024). Additionally, Sibdas conceptualized the program ‘Expanded Disciplinarity,’ a curatorial initiative and annual art grant initiated in 2024 for contemporary practitioners in India, supported by Art Centrix Space, New Delhi.

 

 

He has been a part of the curatorial team for various contemporary art projects, including ‘Things Are Vanishing Before Us,’ a survey exhibition of contemporary sculptures at Bikaner House, New Delhi (2023); ‘Traversing Binaries,’ in Bhubaneswar, Odisha (2023); and ‘Luminous Reveries,’ a multi-disciplinary international contemporary art exhibition curated by Premjish Achari at Travancore Palace, New Delhi (2024). Currently, as a curator, Sibdas leads the projects and programmes at Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency, New Delhi, and Odisha Craft Odyssey since 2024.
