Born in 1967, Shyamasundar Sahu is primarily engaged in the beating process of Kansa before finishing and detailing. As an artisan, he prefers to work specifically on matha (process of beating the metal). His ancestors also belonged to the Kansari community. For years, Shyamasundar worked through different phases in the shalas of others, but now he has limited himself to the beating and finishing processes. Throughout his artisanal career, he has created specific objects such as Mugupuri Gahira , Kalkati Jinjira (musical instrument), Checha , and more. Notably, these Checha were exported to Pakistan from Balipatna before the Kargil War.
