Sworna Lata Nayak is a 22-year-old appliqué artisan based in Bhairpur, Khordha district, Odisha. She began learning the craft at the age of 19 through family-based learning. Her practice is primarily machine-assisted, using fabric as the main material. Like others of her generation, her work reflects a shift toward faster production processes, often detached from ritual-specific contexts. Her engagement with the craft is shaped by contemporary challenges, including limited market access and infrastructural issues such as transport and tourism-related constraints, which affect the visibility and sale of her work.
