Born in 1953, Chandan Kumar Sahoo is one of the oldest artisans from the bell metal cluster of Indipur Village. His father, Rabi Narayan Sahoo, was a pioneer in the art of bell metal. Historically, they have produced belas (bowls) and tatiya (small bowl). Rooted in their legacy, the family has a century-long history of dedicated work in developing this craft. Currently, some artisans support them in running their shala. Chandan and his family have also created new items while experimenting with the composition of bell metal utensils to make them affordable for everyone.
