Over the past weeks, we’ve completed an extensive recce field study across 14 districts of Odisha—mapping communities, meeting artisans, and understanding the appliqué craft landscape on the ground.

Zone 1: Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Puri, Khordha
Zone 2: Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sambalpur
Zone 3: Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Sonepur

This recce was carried out by Smruti Behera, Arabinda Patra, and Madhusmita Das, who travelled across these districts, met artisans, and laid the groundwork for the fellowship.

With our recce phase now complete, we officially kick off the fellowship programme today.
