Born in 1948, Bhagyadhar Sahoo has been crafting metal objects for various uses since his early teenage years. Bhagyadhar’s father migrated to Balipatna from Balakati much before the mid-1960s, and since then, he has worked as an artisan. Bell Metal has been his ancestral craft, which he believes will be passed on to the next generation, ensuring the art remains vibrant in the state of Odisha. In this endeavor, Umesh, Ramesh, and Subhas are the next generation of artisans from the family, continuing the age-old tradition and extending the cultural legacy of Bell Metal craft. Similarly, Narendra, Anirudh, Bharat, and Nirmal work alongside Bhagyadhar in the daily crafting process in his Shala.
