Dr. Reema K is an independent researcher and writer specialising in visual culture, ethnography
of art, cultural studies and contemporary South Asian art. She holds a PhD from the Department
of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. Her dissertation,
titled Sculpting Aesthetic Pleasure: An Ethnographic Study of Moosarippani, a Caste
Occupation in North Kerala, is a study of the sculptural work, caste and identity of Moosari
sculptors, a community practising bronze sculpting, from North Kerala. She incorporates visual
methods in ethnographic study, especially photography and sketching. She explores practice
based research, particularly the possibility of curation as a research practice and method. Hailing
from Kerala, she is currently based in Goa.
