Continuing their field visit across the appliqué craft clusters of Butupali, Sahajpal, and Aanithapali, the fellows spent time engaging with artisans beyond the craft process itself. Conversations around livelihoods, traditions, and everyday practices offered valuable insights into the cultural landscape that sustains appliqué craftsmanship in Boudh.
As they observed techniques, documented stories, and participated in community interactions, the fellows gained a richer understanding of the relationships between craft, people, and place. These moments of learning and exchange became an integral part of their research, reinforcing the importance of immersive fieldwork in documenting Odisha's living craft traditions and preserving the knowledge carried forward by artisan communities.
