In December 2025, fellows of the Odisha Craft Odyssey Residency Programme continued their field research with a visit to the appliqué craft clusters of Masterpada and Pianpada in Phulbani district. Over three days, they engaged with artisan communities to understand the techniques, traditions, and everyday practices that define the craft.
The visit offered valuable opportunities to observe the making process, document local knowledge, and learn directly from artisans whose skills have been nurtured over generations. Through conversations and shared experiences, the fellows gained deeper insights into the cultural significance of appliqué and the communities that sustain it. Field Trip 02 further strengthened the residency's commitment to immersive research and meaningful engagement with Odisha's living craft traditions.
